Experience a magical evening celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, in a truly intercultural celebration that honors the diverse tapestry of our community. This free event brings together Cosmos Co-op, Naropa University’s Office of International Student and Scholar Services, and Nepali Jatra for an unforgettable multicultural experience.
What to Expect:
- 4:30 PM: Explore international student cultural displays in the pavilion
- 5:00 PM: Devotional kirtan singing with Sreedevi Bringi and students of world-musician Sheela Bringi
- Throughout the evening: A rich tapestry of performances including sitar recital by renowned Nepali sitarist Bina Shrestha, traditional Nepali and Tibetan dance, Japanese Ainu songs, Mexican dance, and an enchanting candle dance performance
- Community participation: Join in traditional Diwali dancing with dandiya sticks and tea lights (diyas)
- Delicious ethnic foods to enjoy throughout the event
This celebration embodies the spirit of Diwali—the triumph of light over darkness—while showcasing the beautiful diversity of Boulder’s international community. Whether you’re familiar with Diwali traditions or discovering them for the first time, this event offers a welcoming space to connect, learn, and celebrate together.
