This is a new space for members to promote their work, share opportunities, and make connections. Note that this page is a beta version while we get a feel for the needs of our community. For now, it is completely open to the public, but as it evolves there may be certain perks for members of the Cosmos Cooperative. Open-Source/Wordpress Assistant/Apprentice Wanted (paid/trade)
We are looking for someone who is interested in working on maintaining and updating WordPress-based (self-hosted) and other open-source software sites; troubleshooting/resolving technical issues; adding and configuring plugins; light theming and design; and even some coding (a huge plus, though not required to start). You should be willing to learn on the job, but will be supported through regular communication (message, email, phone, or Zoom) as you get a hang of our platform and the sites we are managing.
The paid part of this will involve keeping an eye on and making regular updates to a handful of client sites. This will pay $25-$50/hr depending on skill and experience. The trade part is negotiable and could involve a learning or creative exchange, if you are able and willing to help with managing Cosmos’ sites while we are still in a formative phase. In the process, you will also pick up marketable skills that could be offered elsewhere or through a future Cosmos Marketplace. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.

Places to Submit from Around the Web
Dark Mountain Journal is part of a project that traces the cultural roots of our current ecological collapse, and attempts to move us away from a human-centred perspective on our planet. Their most recent call for submissions has already passed, but they will be re-opening again sometime this summer.
scene4 is a monthly magazine of arts and culture looking for pitches for articles, commentary, drama, poetry, fiction, photography, and other media.
Unfortunately Literary Magazine is a new magazine that will open to submissions soon. It’s still too early to know a lot of details, but the premise sounds really fun: they are asking writers to only send pieces that have been rejected at least once somewhere else. Unpaid.
Lackington’s submissions window is opening 1–31 August, looking for speculative fiction on the theme of “Plants.” Pay is 1 cent/word ($25 dollars minimum).
The Deadlands website says they “exist in liminal spaces between life, death, and elsewhere. We are looking for speculative fiction that concerns itself with death—but also everything death may involve.” Pay is 10 cents/word.
